Terms of Service

The terms that govern your use of Chorustr

Last updated: June 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Chorustr app or website ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The Service is operated by George Mackenney, based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us", "our").

Your use of the Service is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and handle your personal data.

2. What Chorustr Does

Chorustr is a mobile app for iOS and Android that helps choir singers practise their parts. Choir leaders set up a choir, share audio tracks and supporting materials with their members, and members use the app to practise at home and on the go.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available".

3. Accounts and Access

Choir leaders register with a valid email address and are responsible for keeping their login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account. Choir leaders must be at least 18 years old, as registering involves a commercial agreement.

Choir members join a choir using a code or QR link provided by their choir leader. Members sign in using an existing Apple ID or Google account — no separate Chorustr registration is required. By joining and using the Service, members agree to these terms. Members must meet the minimum age required to hold an Apple ID or Google account in their country.

Choir leaders are responsible for how their choir code is distributed and who is permitted to join their choir.

4. Pricing and Future Charges

Some features of Chorustr are currently available free of charge during an introductory period. We intend to introduce paid subscription plans in the future. Choir leaders will be notified in advance of any charges being introduced, and will be able to choose whether to continue using the Service on a paid basis.

Members do not pay for the Service — all subscription fees, if any, are the responsibility of the choir leader.

Continued use of the Service after paid plans are introduced constitutes acceptance of the applicable pricing at that time.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

6. Content and Copyright

Choir leaders are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary rights, licences, or permissions to share any audio recordings, sheet music, lyrics, or other materials with their choir. This includes complying with copyright law and any applicable licensing requirements.

We do not proactively monitor uploaded content, but we reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts if we receive a credible report of copyright infringement or a violation of these terms.

Audio files are stored in the choir leader's own connected cloud storage. Chorustr accesses and caches this content on members' devices solely to provide the Service. We do not claim ownership of any content you upload or share.

Choir members are granted access to content for personal practice only. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or use the content for any purpose outside the Chorustr app.

7. Content Access and Protection

Members access audio tracks and materials through the app only — they do not have access to the choir leader's underlying storage or files. The app may cache content on a member's device for offline practice. This cached content is for personal use within the app and must not be extracted or shared.

If a choir leader removes a member's access or closes their choir, that member's cached content may become inaccessible. We are not liable for any loss of access in these circumstances.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate an account if you breach these terms or act in a way that is harmful to the Service or other users. If this happens, your right to use the Service ends immediately.

Choir leaders can delete their choir at any time. Members can leave a choir at any time through the app. To request deletion of your account or data, email support@chorustr.com.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, George Mackenney is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service — including loss of data, loss of access to content, or service interruptions.

Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service will not exceed the total amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

10. Service Availability

We aim to keep the Service reliable, but we cannot guarantee it will always be available or uninterrupted. We may carry out maintenance or apply updates that temporarily affect availability. Where we expect planned downtime, we will try to give reasonable notice.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify registered choir leaders by email. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
